My review of “Spare” by Prince Harry

Spare by Prince Harry

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reading time: 2 minutes

This was a 5-star, page-turning, intense love story on many levels: parent-child, child-parent, siblings, lovers, spouse, offspring. It is both educational (fascinating to me about the military training and deployments) and sad (the failure of the media, the family, the institutions), and ultimately clarifying.

As one pundit pointed out, this is an extraordinary historical document regarding the British monarchy. Prince Harry was fortunate to have the services of a wonderful ghostwriter, but his humble honesty is laudable.

Of course my favorite parts were the hints of life “beyond the physical” sprinkled among the sobering details.

I hope Harry writes another book, one even more confident about sharing these transcendent moments when the reality of life beyond this world becomes unmistakable. So many people have such experiences, especially after the death of a loved one, the birth of a child, the near-misses, and the “OMG, what if I hadn’t…”s.

For Spare, Harry demonstrated his fearlessness in pursuit of truth. It will be truly wonderful when he uses that courage to share all that he has experienced first-hand about the unseen life that constantly surrounds us. He will help so many! Meanwhile, I love that he let us in on these small, precious, and highly personal glimpses. Bravo! And thank you.

I do hope this young father prevails in his quest for personal peace.

I have no confidence that those who’ve proven their bondage to the old ways will ever change, but Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan will be leaders—are already leaders—no matter what titles they hold.
